Be careful when you browse search engines like Google and Yahoo for Free Music Downloads. A lot of these sites aren't actually free and require you to register or give you a sample of the song and then ask you to pay for the full version.
It is best to stick to the known list of sites that offer free music like Last.FM and other sites listed on this blog. Also, be careful if you decide on downloading this music and sharing it with friends or on the web as there are license restrictions associated with it.
However, there are still a lot of good resources out there. Check out my post on free music overview to get a list of ideas.
It make take some research and exploring to get at the music you really want, but once you find your sources, trust me, you'll be one happy camper. Some sites come and go, so keep that in mind if you decide to bookmark it.
